What is your organisation’s role in the NAMOR project?
Sundosoft is responsible for the development of a 3D Digital Twin–based Decision Support Platform for water treatment facilities within the NAMOR project.
Our role focuses on integrating real-time sensor data, operational data, and AI-driven simulation outputs into an immersive and interactive 3D environment. Rather than providing simple visualization, the platform is being designed as a comprehensive digital environment where operators can monitor system performance, analyse complex process data, and test different operational scenarios virtually.
By combining data-driven modelling with advanced 3D visualization technologies, the Digital Twin enables predictive analysis and performance optimization under varying environmental and operational conditions. In this way, Sundosoft contributes to establishing a digital foundation that supports the effective implementation and management of innovative water treatment technologies and Nature-based Solutions promoted by NAMOR.
What do you expect to be the key benefits that the NAMOR project will deliver?
NAMOR is expected to accelerate the digital transformation of water management in Europe by integrating advanced modelling, AI-driven optimization, and Nature-based Solutions within operational environments.
Through the combination of 3D Digital Twins and simulation technologies, water facility operators will be able to better understand complex system dynamics, evaluate multiple operational strategies in advance, and make informed decisions based on predictive insights. This approach can lead to improved energy efficiency, reduced operational costs, enhanced water quality stability, and minimized environmental impact.
Beyond technological innovation, NAMOR introduces a systemic framework that connects physical infrastructure with digital intelligence. By enabling simulation-based optimization and data-driven decision-making, the project contributes to building more resilient, sustainable, and adaptive water management systems across Europe.
How have the first months of the NAMOR project been for so far?
The first months of the project have been highly collaborative and constructive. Through the Kick-off Meeting and subsequent Work Package discussions, we have exchanged detailed technical perspectives and aligned on the scope and objectives of the Digital Twin platform.
Sundosoft has initiated 3D modelling of the Greek pilot site’s water treatment facility and is currently developing an early-stage Digital Twin prototype. While this is not yet the final system, it serves as a Proof of Concept (PoC) that helps pilot users better understand the system architecture and potential functionalities.
This early prototype plays a crucial role in refining user requirements and ensuring that the platform evolves in alignment with real operational needs. Overall, the project has started with strong technical synergy among partners, providing a solid foundation for the next development phases.
