Imperial College London

LUT University (Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology)

LUT University (Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology) is a public science university in Finland that integrates technology, business, and social sciences. The research at LUT focuses on renewable technology, clean water, energy, climate change, and sustainable engineering solutions. At LUT University, we aim to find solutions to global challenges using our expertise in these fields. We are pioneers in driving the energy transition and the sustainable use of natural resources, and we support the development of resilient communities, industry, and businesses through data, research, and education. LUT is leading WP2 in this project, which focuses on preparatory activities for the demonstration plant in Finland, as part of the Finnish case study conducted in collaboration with Operon. Additionally, LUT will explore the potential of Nordic microalgae strains and consortia to develop a low-temperature algae-bacteria system for decentralized wastewater treatment.

Algen, algal technology centre, llc

Algen is a Slovenian micro-SME, established in 2010, specialising in the development and integration of algae technology systems. The company provides consulting, engineering, and R&D services in algal cultivation, wastewater treatment, and biomass valorisation. Its expertise spans pilot to prototype-scale operations, with a focus on algae-bacterial processes for treating industrial wastewaters and biogas digestate, recycling nutrients and CO₂, and producing biomass for applications ranging from biostimulants and biofertilisers to biofuels and food products.
Algen has contributed to numerous EU and national projects, delivering solutions in nutrient recovery, circular bioeconomy, and sustainable production. It has designed and built several large-scale Spirulina production facilities and demonstration centres for research, education, and awareness. Collaborating with academic, industrial, and policy partners across Europe, Algen combines technical innovation with practical implementation to advance algae-based solutions for environmental sustainability and resource efficiency.

Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH)

Founded in 2000, the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) is one of Greece’s and Europe’s leading research centres and a key regional employer of highly skilled researchers. Operating as a non-profit legal entity under the supervision of the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation (GSRI), CERTH plays a vital role in advancing science and innovation.
In NAMOR, CERTH brings together three renowned laboratories: the NRRE (Natural Resources and Renewable Energies) and LPRE (Laboratory of Polymer Reaction Engineering) of CPERI, with strong expertise in advanced water and wastewater treatment using microalgae and membrane separation technologies and the M4D Group (Multimodal Data Fusion and Analytics Group) of MKLab at ITI, which excels in artificial intelligence, visual analytics and big data processing.

University of Almería

The University of Almería (UAL) is a leading academic and research institution with extensive expertise in algae biotechnology and process automation. It has one of the more relevant research platforms for the development of microalgae-related processes and the application of control engineering to agriculture and biotechnology. UAL has led some of the most relevant EU projects in microalgae and agriculture, such as SABANA and Internet-of-Foods. Moreover, UAL has also participated in other related EU projects such as REALM, CO2ALGAEFIX, Digitalgaesation, or SMARTAGRIHUS), and collaborated with a large number of research centers, universities and companies around the world. The experience of the University of Almería includes process design and the development of modelling and control approaches for microalgae-based biomass production in industrial reactors.

University of Ljubljana

University of Ljubljana (UL), established in 1919, is Slovenia’s oldest and highest-ranked university. As the country’s largest public research and education institution, UL spans all scientific disciplines through its 23 faculties and 3 art academies, serving around 38,000 students. Sundosoft Ltd. is a company specializing in digital twin platform development, spatial big data analysis, and AI-based service model development, providing system integration services to both public and private sectors in Korea.
In the NAMOR project, the company is responsible for developing digital twin-based management technology for decentralized wastewater treatment facilities, designing and building a digital twin capable of accurately simulating these facilities in 3D.
This enables users to model various wastewater treatment scenarios and utilize interactive visualization and scenario simulation functions to respond quickly to environmental changes.
