Paving the Way for the Slovenian Demo Site: NAMOR Partners Visit WWTP Ajdovščina
Slovenian NAMOR partners, University of Ljubljana and AlgEn, visited the Wastewater Treatment Plant Ajdovščina to present the NAMOR project and discuss opportunities for collaboration.
Together with representatives of the WWTP, the partners explored future joint efforts to design, install, and operate the Slovenian demonstration system at the plant’s premises. Discussions focused on the selection of a suitable demo site, the integration of the algae system into the Centre for Green Technologies, and the potential benefits for all involved stakeholders.
Beyond municipal wastewater, the use of centrate as a nutrient source for algae cultivation was also discussed. This approach could help reduce the operational burden for plant managers while creating added value through resource recovery.
The visit marks an important step toward implementing a practical, circular solution that links wastewater treatment with sustainable algae-based technologies.
