Presenting NAMOR Nature-Based Wastewater Solutions at CIBAL Conference 2025 in Chile
The NAMOR Project broadened its international outreach last summer by taking part in a dedicated session on wastewater treatment during the CIBAL Conference 2025 in Chile. The event gathered experts, researchers, and policymakers from across Latin America and beyond to discuss emerging approaches for sustainable and resilient water management.
During the session, NAMOR representatives presented the project’s latest innovations in nature-based, algae-driven, and distributed wastewater treatment systems. The discussion focused on:
-
Wastewater reuse for safer, more efficient water cycles,
-
Nutrient recovery as a pathway to create value from waste streams,
-
Biomass valorisation to support circular and bio-based product chains, and
-
The potential of decentralised treatment to reduce environmental impacts and serve remote or underserved communities.
These approaches highlight NAMOR’s contribution to delivering sustainable, circular, and low-impact solutions tailored to real-world needs.
The NAMOR team also presented insights from the project’s pilot implementations, demonstrating how the combination of:
-
Biological processes,
-
Real-time digital monitoring tools, and
-
Local valorisation routes,
can provide effective wastewater treatment options that enhance community resilience and reduce operational complexity. These demonstrations underscored NAMOR’s role in bridging scientific innovation with practical, community-level applications.
NAMOR’s participation in the CIBAL Conference reinforces its commitment to the circular bioeconomy and underscores the importance of global cooperation. By engaging with partners and stakeholders in Latin America, the project is contributing to shared solutions for addressing water scarcity, pollution, and climate-related pressures.
